Some councillors in the Municipal Corporation of Roorkee (MCR) have alleged that their signatures were forged in a letter submitted to the municipal commissioner complaining about the Roorkee mayor Gaurav Goel.
MCR councillors Manoj Kumar, Anju Devi, Hema Bisht and Pramod Pal submitted a letter to the municipal commissioner Vijaynath Shukla. These councillors have stated that a letter complaining about the mayor Gaurav Goel had been submitted a day ago. Their signatures had been forged on this letter. Their names had also been published in newspaper reports on Sunday which they said was unacceptable. The four councillors have demanded that a proper investigation should be undertaken and necessary action should be initiative in this case. They further alleged that some councillors were responsible for forging their signatures on the complaint letter. This action was aimed at spreading discord and to cause mental harassment, they alleged. The councillors further alleged that whenever the mayor tries to initiate investigation or steps against corrupt workers in the municipal corporation, he has to face opposition from some of the corrupt workers.
