MDDA demolishes 150 bigha illegal plotting, seals over dozen multi-storey buildings

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has demolished about 150 bigha of illegal plotting and sealed dozens of constructions, including several multi-storey buildings.

The MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari informed that the authority demolished 18 bigha of illegal plotting in Jhabrawala, Doiwala, 10 to 12 bigha in Dandi village, Ranipokhri, 25 bigha in Baksarwala, Bhaniyawala and 40 bigha near Sai Mandir on Haridwar Road in Dehradun.

Besides this, MDDA also cleared 10 bigha in Sheeshambada and five bigha in Rupnagar Badripur. Several constructions in Majri Grant, Haridwar Road, Nehru Colony, Sahastradhara Road and Shimla Bypass areas were also sealed.

The biggest action took place in Rishikesh where the authority sealed more than a dozen multi-storey buildings in areas such as Nirmal Bagh, Veerbhadra Road, lane number 10 and11, Koyal Grant and other locations under its jurisdiction. Tiwari stated that the action will continue and the authority will reach every location where structures have been raised against the rules.

The authority is also running awareness campaigns to inform the public not to fall for land mafia tactics and to verify the legality of any plot or construction with MDDA before purchase, he added.
