The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) demolished illegal construction and unauthorised plotting in Rishikesh and Doiwala areas on Tuesday. The authority cleared encroachments and sealed unauthorised buildings while warning that illegal activity will not be tolerated.

At Kudukawala area in Doiwala, MDDA demolished illegal plotting covering upto 20 bighas of land. The team also warned the people involved not to continue such activities in the future.

In the Bankhandi area of Rishikesh, MDDA sealed a building that was being constructed without an approved map. The action was taken in the presence of engineers and police officials. MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that illegal construction and unauthorised plotting will not be accepted under any circumstances. He said that ensuring development as per planning standards is the primary responsibility of the authority. In many cases, people are misled by unauthorised plotting, which later leads to financial and legal problems. In such cases, the authority will not only demolish the construction but also take legal action against those responsible.

MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia appealed to the public to get map approval before starting any construction work and to check the legality of any property before investing.
