The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) will take action against those spreading disinformation on social media. In addition to this, it will also upload details on a daily basis on social media.
The MDDA is preparing to take action against those spreading misleading information related to plotting, getting construction layouts passed, sale of flats and other related aspects on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube, among others. The MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari chaired a meeting with officials on this issue here on Friday. A six-member team was formed for this purpose in the meeting. This team will track persons spreading misinformation on social media and also work to share the correct information with the public from the authority’s official social media pages and handles.
Officials said that with a large number of people being active on social media, some unscrupulous elements are trying to take advantage of the situation. Such persons publicise attractive advertisements and propaganda on social media to attract people who ultimately fall prey to fraud. Taking cognisance of the situation, the authority has decided to take action against such persons. The MDDA vice chairman informed that the authority has formed a six-member team to take action against persons spreading disinformation on social media. This team includes assistant engineer Sudhir Kumar Gupta, under secretary Ekta Arora, additional engineers Pravesh Nautiyal and Nancy Sharma along with assistant clerk Kalam Singh Bisht and programmer Neeraj Semwal.
Tiwari said that this team will track those who are spreading disinformation on social media. This team will also provide a weekly report on its task. The team has also been accorded the responsibility of regularly posting information about the MDDA’s daily activities including sealing of constructions, demolition of encroachments and other tasks on the authority’s website and social media pages, the MDDA vice chairman added.
