The Mussoorie–Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) has started work on the construction and development of two parks in the Raipur–Dalanwala area of Dehradun at a cost of about Rs 90 lakh.
On Sunday, Raipur MLA Umesh Sharma laid the foundation stone of a new park near the community building at MDDA Colony, Chandra Road, Dalanwala. MDDA officials said that the Nehru Colony park has already been completed, where footpaths, plantation, a stage, painting work and quality grass have been provided. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the State government is according priority to environment protection along with development.
MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that the authority is committed to developing environment-friendly infrastructure in urban areas in line with the green development vision of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Construction of parks is not just beautification, but also means to encourage citizens towards a healthy lifestyle.
MDDA secretary Mohan Singh Barnia said that special attention is being paid to quality, timely completion and transparency in the construction and renovation works of the parks. The work of Nehru Colony Park has been completed, and the construction of the Dalanwala Park will also be completed within the stipulated time. The objective is to provide citizens with safe, clean and beautiful public spaces.
