MDDA plants 4,000 saplings on Harela

The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) planted about 4,000 plants and saplings on the occasion of Harela festival on Tuesday. The MDDA team under the supervision of vice chairperson Banshidhar Tiwari carried out A plantation drive in various parts of the city including near Haridwar Bypass, Doon Vihar and Jakhan. The chief secretary Radha Raturi along with her husband and ex director general of police Anil Raturi also joined the team in the drive in Doon Vihar. The officials said that the whole MDDA team carried out a plantation in the Vigilance road near Haridwar Bypass in a joint association with senior superintendent of police, Vigilance, Dhirendra Gunjyal and others. Tiwari said on the occasion that the MDDA aims to promote greenery in the city and has been encouraging people and organisations to participate in plantation drives and subsequently protect the plants. He said that the MDDA has set the target of planting one lakh plants and saplings in this monsoon. The MDDA has included several schools, NGOs and resident welfare societies in this initiative to ensure maximum plantation in areas that fall under the authority. Tiwari stated that besides plantation, the MDDA and the associated agencies will ensure proper care and protection of the planted saplings too.
