The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed four under-construction buildings in the Kulhan and Chandrabani areas on Tuesday. The buildings were being constructed without the required approvals and sanctioned maps.
According to MDDA officials, several complaints were received about these constructions. After inspections, the authority found that the buildings were being developed in violation of building bylaws. Based on the findings, action was taken under the relevant provisions of the law.
In Kulhan, MDDA sealed a apartment project where two multi-storey buildings were being connected and developed into flats without proper approvals. The project was reportedly being carried out by Chirag Talwar. The authority sealed both buildings to stop further work. In another case, the authority sealed two duplex buildings in the Dwarikapuri area on Chandrabani Road. The buildings were reportedly being constructed by Subhash Chaudhary. Officials said that the construction did not follow the required rules and permissions.
MDDA vice chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that illegal constructions create problems for urban planning and put extra pressure on roads, parking, water supply, sewer systems and other public facilities. He warned that strict action, including sealing and demolition, will continue against anyone violating building regulations. Tiwari said the authority is committed to ensuring planned and safe development in Dehradun. He urged citizens to obtain all necessary approvals before starting any construction work.
