The Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) started a checking campaign against unauthorised constructions a day after some councillors of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) accused MDDA officials of allegedly assisting the land mafia to acquire land and in illegal construction of buildings across the city. A team led by executive engineer Manoj Joshi sealed the ongoing illegal construction at the ground floor and the first floor of a building near Mussoorie Lake which was being done at an area of 15 by 30 feet. Another team of MDDA also prevented an ongoing construction work at a cafe in Rajpur Road which was being done in a 25 by 30 feet area. The team seized the said area with the help of the police and issued a notice to the owner. The officials also conducted inspections in various commercial establishments from the Clock Tower area to Kaulagarh to check the arrangement of the parking facility provided by them to the customers. The officials said that the checking was also conducted to ensure that no commercial body is using its parking facility for other purposes. They said that the teams inspected various commercial establishments from Clock Tower to Raj Plaza to Kaulagarh on Tuesday and marked them too for easier identification in future. The officials said that such inspections will be conducted regularly to ensure proper parking arrangements in such establishments. Strict action will be taken against those who fail to provide sufficient parking facilities or misuse the parking area for other purposes, added the officials.
