In Latest news from Doon, taking a serious note of the unauthorised parking escalating the already grim traffic logjam in the city and its suburbs, the Mussoorrie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sent ultimatum to about 350 housing and business complexes to immediately arrange basement parking in them. It also made it clear that sterner actions would follow if the owners of these complexes defy this order. The MDDA vice- chairman Banshidhar Tiwari said that with all their warnings having fallen on deaf ear, they must now go for stringent actions.
The MDDA decided to send ultimatum to 350 identified complexes after a comprehensive survey involving Dehradun, Vikasnagar, Rishikesh and Doiwala was conducted. Sources said that Dehradun alone houses 250 of these identified complexes.
Importantly, after MDDA cracked the whip, the Raj Plaza management hastily cleared basement for housing a parking space.
