MI hosp performs kidney transplant under Ayushman scheme

In a significant development the Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital here has claimed to conduct the first successful kidney transplant operation of the state under the Ayushman scheme.
The senior kidney specialist of the hospital, Dr Alok Kumar said that patient Prashant Singh Bisht (36 years) was donated a kidney by his mother Reena Devi. The team of the hospital that performed the operation consisted of kidney specialist Dr Alok Kumar, Dr Vivek Ruhela, Dr Kamal Sharma, Dr Vivek Vijjan, Dr Vimal Kumar Dixit and Anesthetist Dr Ashutosh. Dr Kumar said that after the kidney transplant, the patient has been discharged and is leading a normal life.
“Kidney Transplant is an extremely critical surgical procedure. The patient and his family must strictly follow the precautions given by the doctors after transplant. Prevention from infection, regular prescribed medication and regular doctor’s consultation is a must. After kidney transplant, the patient can lead a normal life provided he strictly follows the medical guidelines. The role of family members in caring for the patient is as significant as the role of doctors”, said Dr Kumar.
