Miffed at senior, class X student brings pistol to school

In an alarming incident, a class X student was caught after bringing a country-made pistol and bullets to his boarding school. His classmates at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Roshanabad area of Haridwar informed the principal about the matter after he allegedly told them about his intention to shoot a senior with whom he had an argument in the recent past. Subsequently, the firearm was seized by the authorities and a case was registered by the police following which the matter is being investigated.
According to sources, the class X student had an argument with a class XII student in the recent past. The school staff had to intervene in order to resolve the matter. It is being suspected that the class X student who hails from Manglaur was able to procure a country-made pistol and cartridges when he had gone home during the Deepawali holidays. On returning to school, he allegedly told some of his classmates that he had brought a gun and would shoot the class XII student when he got the chance. The students in turn informed the school principal about the matter. The principal checked the said student’s baggage and found a pistol and cartridges in it. The principal then took the student along with the seized items to the district magistrate from where they went to the SIIDCUL police station. The police have registered a case against the minor on the basis of a complaint lodged by the school principal.
The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the police are investigating to ascertain from where and how the minor managed to procure a country-made pistol and what his intention was. He said that the boy in question had an altercation with a senior student in school some days ago. The boy was later presented before the juvenile justice board. According to sources, considering various aspects in the case, the boy was sent home under the supervision of his parents.
The incident of a school boy bringing a gun to school comes at a time when there has been a spike in violent crimes in some parts of the State in the recent past.
