The revenue from mining is expected to go past the figure of Rs 1,000 crore in the current financial year. The data of the mining department shows that it has collected revenue of Rs 686 crore till December 2024. This is more than the total revenue earned by the department in the FY 2023-24.
The data shows that the mining revenue stood at Rs 397 crore in the FY 2019-20 and it increased to Rs 646 crore in the FY 2023-24. The revenue increased by 36.86 per cent in the year 2023-24 as compared to 2022-23. The department is hoping for an increase of 50 per cent in the revenue this year.
The experts are of the view that the increase in the revenue from mining occurred due to the changed strategy by the department. On the orders of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the department handed over the task of monitoring to a private agency which has yielded positive results. Earlier the work of monitoring mining activities was done at the level of the department itself.
