Minister Agarwal reviews progress in asset distribution issue
An agreement between the CMs of UP & Uttarakhand was reached on November 18 last year in Lucknow

The State’s Reorganisation minister Prem Chand Agarwal assessed the progress of the distribution of assets between Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh (UP) in a review meeting held at his Vidhan Sabha based office on Friday.
In the meeting he held a detailed discussion on the various aspects of the distribution of assets between the two states with the officers of the department. The assets of the irrigation, food and civil supplies, forests, transport, housing, tourism and other departments were discussed in the meeting. The officers informed the minister that the mutual agreement on most of the points regarding distribution of assets and responsibilities between the two states is in the last stage of getting sorted out. They also informed him that the issues pertaining to some assets and responsibilities would be taken up in the upcoming meetings with officials of UP. The minister was told that the pending issues pertaining to the employees between the two states are in the last stage of getting sorted out.
Agarwal said that positive progress had occurred in the issue of distribution of assets between the last meeting of chief ministers of UP and Uttarakhand. Agarwal directed the officers to provide pin-pointed information about the survey of the land of irrigation department in Haridwar so that a final decision on it is reached between the upcoming meeting with the officials of UP.
Agarwal directed the officers to convene another meeting within a week in which the review of all the pending issues would be taken.
The meeting was attended by Reorganisation secretary Ranjit Sinha, joint secretary Sunil Kumar, deputy secretary N S Baseda and other officers of the department.
It is worth mentioning here that distribution of assets of many departments between UP and Uttarakhand has been pending ever since Uttarakhand was created in the year 2000. An agreement between the CM of UP Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami was reached on November 18 last year after which both the leaders had claimed that most of the pending issues have been resolved.
