Taking serious cognisance of the complaints of the irregularities in the evaluation of answer sheets at Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, the State Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat directed the university’s vice -chancellor to promptly investigate the matter.

This directive came after the State information commissioner (SIC) Yogesh Bhatt had found irregularities in the evaluation of answer sheets at the university.

“This is a serious lapse,” Rawat said and added that the VC must address the issue by taking appropriate actions against the negligent examiners.

He said he had suggested these teachers be prohibited from evaluating answer sheets for the next 10 years to prevent recurrence of such errors.

Also, he expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of a permanent controller of examination at the university and urged the VC to promptly issue a notification for the appointment of a permanent controller. “This step aims to ensure the smooth conduct of examinations, transparent evaluation, timely declaration of results and the prevention of irregularities in examination answer sheet evaluation,” he said.

Rawat further informed that to ensure educational quality, there would be a thorough verification of the faculty members working in all the private educational institutions affiliated with Sri Dev Suman University. “This verification process aims to verify if the faculty members in the private educational institutions have been appointed in line with the regulations set by UGC and the university,” the minister said.

He said that the recognition of those institutions where faculty members are not appointed as per UGC standards would be temporarily suspended until the compliance is met. “Keeping this in view, the university administration has been instructed to establish a high-level committee to look into all the affiliated private institutions,” he added.
