Minister directs Health DG to continuously monitor health facilities

Rawat claims that advanced life support ambulances, temporary health units stationed on Yatra route

Concerned by the deaths of pilgrims during the ongoing Char Dham Yatra the Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the director general of State Health Services to continuously monitor the health facilities in the Char Dham Yatra route. Rawat said that advanced Life Support Ambulances (LSAs) have been deployed on the Char Dham Yatra route. These LSAs have been linked with the 108 emergency ambulance service. The department has also deployed first medical response teams at many places in the Yatra route. Rawat said that in Chamoli district three advanced LSAs have been stationed at Badrinath, Hemkund Sahib and Tungnath while 13 ambulances of 108 service have been deployed. The minister added that 19 temporary medical units have been opened at 19 places from Gauchar to Badrinath. These medical units have doctors, pharmacists and two other staff members. He said that a total of 75 doctors are deployed in the Yatra route in Chamoli district. Similarly in Uttarkashi district, five Advanced LSA and 14 ambulances of 108 service have been stationed. He said that 11 permanent and one temporary medical unit are there from Damta to Yamunotri.  All the medical units are equipped with an ECG machine, cardiac monitor, defibrillator and have sufficient medicines. The minister said that on the bridle path from Janaki Chatti to Yamunotri five first medical response teams have been stationed at every kilometre. He said that from Brahmtal to Gangotri ten permanent medical response units have been stationed. Apart from them three first medical response teams are deployed in the Yatra route. At the Primary health centre (PHC) Harsil the facility of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has been provided while a cardiac ambulance has been stationed at Janaki Chatti. In Rudraprayag district eight temporary medical units and 14 temporary medical relief posts are deployed on the Kedarnath route.
