Minister directs officers to take effective measures to control dengue

With the onset of the dengue season in the State, the health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has instructed all the departments concerned to remain on an alert mode for the disease. He directed the officials to take effective steps to control the dengue disease across the State.
In a statement the minister said on Tuesday, the health department has been directed to take steps for the control and prevention of dengue. The minister further said that in the rainy season, there are more chances of Dengue in the State. He said that all the linear departments have been asked to undertake an awareness programme on dengue control on a large scale across the State. The minister said that the health department had undertaken a massive public awareness programme from May 16 to June 15 on the prevention of dengue.
Rawat further informed that soon a high-level meeting will be held with the departments concerned in which the discussions on more effective steps for the prevention of dengue would be held. He claimed that the health department is fully prepared to deal with dengue menace and added that tests for dengue are available free of cost in the government hospitals. The minister said that 1466 isolation beds for dengue have been reserved in medical units across the state for proper treatment of dengue patients, which can also be increased if required. The availability of platelets in blood banks has also been ensured for serious dengue patients, he added.
