After a 13-year- old girl gave birth to a male child in hospital in Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani, her relatives filed a case against a youth who lives in neighbourhood under POCSO Act. It is learnt that the condition of the minor girl suddenly worsened and her relatives took her to hospital. Medical examinations done on her revealed that she was eight months pregnant. The girl’s brother said in his complaint to the police that a youth living in Banbhoolpura area was responsible for her sister’s plight. He further said that the youth had warned her against revealing anything and threatened her with death in case she revealed and that is why she kept silent.
Police informed that the girl gave birth to a male child in hospital late at night. After the girl’s condition improved she talked to her relatives and the whole matter was exposed. Police arrested the accused youth who is a resident of Rampur from Banbhoolpura.
