As the news of a 15-year-old girl being sexually assaulted spread, the angry locals came out on the roads in Banbhoolpura area of Haldwani. A total of eight suspects were arrested by police and they were being interrogated, said the City circle officer, Nitin Lohani, adding that a case had been registered under POCSO Act.
Police further said that the girl was lured to a desolate place by an unidentified person and then raped. She returned in a state of shock and told her ordeal to her parents. A case was then lodged at Banbhoolpura police station and police started probe.
Lohani further said that they would reach to the bottom of the case and the culprits would be brought to book.
