Two minor sisters from Bihar were rescued from a drug addict who used to drug them and make them beg in Haridwar. The anti human trafficking cell of the police arrested the man who has been sent to jail while the two rescued girls have been sent to the government shelter for girls in Dehradun.
The anti human trafficking cell nodal officer and circle officer (Operation) Niharika Semwal said that a man named Prince, a resident of Rodi Bewala slum, used to make two minor sisters of Bihar beg after getting them intoxicated. It is alleged that the accused also used to physically abuse them. After being tipped off by an informer, the two girls aged 15 and 12 years were rescued from the man who was arrested.
During police questioning both girls said that their mother had passed away a few years ago after which, about two years ago, their father abandoned both the sisters at Haridwar. Since then both used to live by begging in Haridwar. Some time ago both came in contact with Prince. He allegedly started physically abusing them after forcibly making them inhale fluid to get them intoxicated.
The police said that after freeing both the girls from the clutches of the accused Prince, they have been given shelter at the government facility in Kedarpuram, Dehradun.
