The State administration has appointed controversial officer and former registrar of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University, Mrityunjay Mishra as the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Ayurveda and Unani Medicine department. An order regarding this was issued by the additional secretary Vijay Kumar Jogdande on Monday.
As per the order Mishra would be appointed to the non cadre post of OSD in the department. Basically an officer of the Higher Education department, Mishra’s post was merged in the Ayurveda department. During the tenure of Trivendra Singh Rawat as chief minister, a vigilance inquiry was initiated against him for large scale irregularities in the Ayurveda university. He was suspended in October 2018 and arrested on December 3, 2018. Mishra’s suspension was later revoked and he was reinstated as the registrar of the Ayurveda university. However his joining on duty was stalled by the university after which he was attached to the State administration.
Meanwhile, the news of appointment of Mishra as OSD of the Ayurveda and Unani department became a talking point in the directorate and the babudom of the State on Monday.
