The local MLA Tilakraj Behed entered into a heated verbal argument with the employees of the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited on the issue of installation of smart meters in Shankar farm area on Monday. The agitated MLA also snatched the smart meters from the team of UPCL and broke them by smashing them on the road.
On hearing about the arrival of the team of UPCL, the MLA reached the site along with his supporters. He strongly protested the decision of the UPCL to install the smart meters. The MLA said that the meters should be installed only after the consent given by the consumers and warned that he is ready to go to any extent to prevent forcible installation of smart meters.
