Model Vaccination Centre at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital sees surge in vaccinations

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun
The recently established Model Vaccination Centre at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital has seen a considerable rise in the number of children receiving vaccinations. It is pertinent to mention that this centre stands out from other vaccination facilities across the State as it is the first State model vaccination centre for children and pregnant women.
It offers services every day of the week from 8 AM to 8 PM. The primary aim of extended hours at this centre is to support working parents who may find it difficult to take their children for vaccinations during regular hours. This allows parents to visit the centre at any time, on any day.
District Immunisation Officer Dr Dinesh Chauhan said that the centre’s extended hours and availability throughout the week have contributed to an increase in the percentage of children visiting for vaccinations. Earlier,
the facility was set up at Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital and had limited access. In comparison to the earlier situation, the establishment of the current model vaccination centre has led to a 40 per cent increase in the number of children receiving vaccinations. He also informed that this centre offers both manual registration and digital registration for the vaccinations of children and pregnant women through the relevant portal.
It will be recalled that earlier Dr Chauhan had informed that a new staff member has recently been appointed at the centre. He stated that the relevant departments have sent qualified staff for designated positions, which include one ward boy, two PRD personnel for security at the centre, two sanitation workers and one data operator. He also said that, in addition to this, four Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) are currently providing services.
