CMOs directed to conduct gap analysis & send proposals
The State’s Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that better facilities will be provided to the general public in the State’s government hospitals. All the chief medical officers (CMOs) have been directed to conduct a gap analysis of facilities in the hospitals in their respective districts and send proposals to the administration. He further directed that adequate facilities should be made available in all medical units on the Yatra route considering the Char Dham Yatra set to start in April. In addition to this, he also instructed officials to conduct State-wide awareness campaigns on TB-free and drug-free Uttarakhand initiatives.
Rawat said that in a departmental review meeting, he had directed the officials concerned to conduct a gap analysis of doctors, paramedical staff, medical equipment, building and other important resources in all the medical treatment units of the State and send proposals to the State administration so that the units can be provided necessary resources along with deployment of doctors and paramedical staff. Considering the Char Dham Yatra set to start in the near future, the CMOs have also been directed to facilitate provision of better facilities in medical treatment units on the Char Dham Yatra circuit. The minister also directed the officials to step up efforts to raise awareness on TB-free and drug-free campaigns. The officials were also instructed to focus on maximising institutional deliveries to reduce the infant mortality rate, organise camps at district and block levels for blood donation along with registration campaigns for blood donation in educational institutions.
Body donation great deed for humanity: Rawat
Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that donating the body, organs and eyes is a great deed for the welfare of society. The minister said this after honouring family members of six persons who had donated their bodies at the first annual function of Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, Dehradun in the Government Doon Medical College on Sunday. Rawat said that due to various religious beliefs, most people conduct the last rites of the family members in the traditional manner. At the same time there are people in society who are voluntarily coming forward to donate their organs and body for the medical science students in social interest.
