Modi to launch developmental works worth Rs 8,260 crore today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch developmental works worth more than Rs 8,260 crore for Uttarakhand today. The Prime Minister will be addressing the public on the occasion of the 25th State foundation day here today. The address to be held at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) is expected to be attended by about one lakh people from across the State.   The PM will also release a commemorative postal stamp on the occasion.

According to officials, the developmental works which the PM will launch include projects related to drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports and skill development. He will also inaugurate the Dehradun water supply coverage project under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), an electricity sub-station in Pithoragarh, solar power plants in governmental buildings and an astroturf hockey field in the Haldwani stadium. In addition to these projects, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for two important projects including the Song dam drinking water project in Dehradun district and the Jamrani multipurpose dam project in Nainital district. The Song dam project will prorive 150 MLD drinking water per day while the Jamrani project will boost irrigation, drinking water supply and electricity generation.
