The Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media post after his recent visit to Uttarakhand and the public enthusiasm show that the State government’s efforts to develop and popularise the Manaskhand (Kumaon) region of Uttarakhand are succeeding. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should be credited for the efforts he has taken to bring Manaskhand on the mainstream tourism map after Badrinath and Kedarnath. Bhatt shared these views in an informal interaction with the media here after returning from his Pithoragarh tour.

He said, “The success of the PM’s Kumaon visit can be gauged from the fact that even before I returned from there, a record number of people across the world have already expressed their eagerness to visit the region. The manner in which PM Modi prayed at Adi Kailash, Parvati Kund and Jageshwar Dham with devotion and also mentioned these places in his address, has further increased talk about the divinity and grandeur of these locations. The personal touch he displayed while meeting soldiers at Jollikong and the locals in other places while also presenting their culture and traditions in front of the world are sure to bring great results. The seriousness of his attachment to Uttarakhand can be gauged from his social media post shortly after his Uttarakhand visit. The PM describing Badrinath, Kedarnath, Parvati Kund and Jageshwar as best locations shows that he is also making efforts as the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand,” the BJP State president said.

Bhatt further claimed that Modi’s social media post on his recent Uttarakhand visit had considerably increased the number of people now seeking information about how to reach the Kumaon region and other relevant details. He also credited the CM stating that Dhami has been trying for a long time to develop a global identity of the Manaskhand religious sites in the Kumaon regions on the lines of the Char Dham shrines.

These efforts are aimed at ensuring the benefit of the local residents from the resulting increase in pilgrimage and tourism business. He further said that the CM had been attempting to bring the PM to the Manaskhand sites for a long time so that the governmental efforts receive global recognition. “Considering the direct and indirect activity of PM Modi regarding these efforts, the orders issued by CM Dhami to officials for starting work on executing the vision of the PM are also known to the public. All of us must come forward and contribute positively in efforts to take the State’s identity and economy to new heights,” the BJP State chief said.

It will be recalled that after completing his one-day tour of the Kumaon region on October 12, PM Modi had expressed his feelings about the trip on his official X handle. He had stated, “If someone were to ask me- if there is one place you must visit in Uttarakhand which place would it be, I would say you must visit Parvati Kund and Jageshwar temple in the Kumaon region of the state. The natural beauty and divinity will leave you spellbound.’’ Modi had further stated, “Of course, Uttarakhand has many well known places worth visiting and I have also visited the State very often. These include the sacred places of Kedarnath and Badrinath, which are the most memorable experiences. But, to return to Parvati Kund and Jageshwar Temples after many years has been special.”
