Monsoon expected to arrive in U’khand in a few days

The monsoon is expected to arrive in Uttarakhand any day after June 24. The people, especially in the plain regions of the State have already been provided relief from the heat wave conditions experienced for about 10 days with the pre-monsoon showers along with the resulting drop in the temperatures for a couple of days now.
The State meteorological centre has forecast that light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at isolated places in the remaining districts of the State on Sunday. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (Watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning/gusty winds (30-40 kmph) and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in all the districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky today with thunder cloud development likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 37.2 degrees Celsius and 23.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.8 degrees Celsius and 26.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 24 degrees Celsius and 14.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 27.9 degrees Celsius and 17.6 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various parts with 21 millimetres in Nainidanda, 9.5 millimetres in Lansdowne, eight millimetres in Laksar, five millimetres in Rishikesh and four millimetres in Mukteshwar.
