Monsoon session of U’khand assembly adjourned sine die

The speaker of Uttarakhand assembly Prem Chand Agarwal adjourned the monsoon session assembly sine die on Saturday. On the last day the members participated in a discussion on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations Organisation (UNO).
Initiating the proceedings on the day on the only business of the day, the speaker said that the objective of the SDG is that the achievements in different fields should be sustainable so that their real objective is attained and the people get proper and long term benefit.
The Speaker added that in the 63th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association convention held at Dhaka on October 10, 2017 it was decided that in state assemblies elaborate discussions on the SDGs would be held and any one day should be allotted for it. SDGs are a collection of 16 global goals set by the UNO which cover a broad range of social and economic development issues like health, education, social justice, poverty, climate change, gender equality, drinking water sanitation, energy and environment. The SDGs are also known as ‘Transforming our World- the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Deputy leader of Congress in assembly Karan Mahra, Pritam Panwar, Deshraj Karnwal, Qazi Nizamuddin and many other MLAs expressed themselves on the SDG.
