The Dhumakot police arrested a resident of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh with 85 kilogrammes of ganja from Simdi check post on the weekend. The police also seized the car being used to transport the contraband. The accused reportedly confessed to having bought the cannabis from Saraikhet in Almora district.
According to the police, accused Randhir Singh was arrested while transporting the ganja when the police were conducting checks at Simdi checkpost in Dhumakot. The seized contraband is estimated to be valued at Rs 13 lakh. The police registered a case against the accused under different sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. During interrogation the accused reportedly told the policeThe arrested accused told the police on interrogation that he had purchased the ganja from a resident of Bhangalwadi village in Almora district. The accused sources contraband from villages and sells the same for a profit in Moradabad.
It is pertinent to mention here that Pauri police have arrested three persons with contraband in a duration of six days from different parts of the district.
