More arrests made, 42 arrested so far for Haldwani riot

Conditional relaxation in curfew, DM visits affected area
With the arrest of five more accused on Thursday, the police have so far arrested 42 persons for their alleged role in the Haldwani riot. Meanwhile, the district magistrate Vandana Singh ordered some relaxation in the curfew bound area of Vanbhulpura where at least six persons died and many were injured apart from damage caused to property following riot and arson on February 8.
According to the police, those arrested on Thursday for their role in the riot are Mohammed Istakar (22), Sharif (29), Adi Khan (21), Mohammed Asif (30) and Hukum Raza (33). The Nainital senior superintendent of police Prahlad Narayan Meena informed that a lookout notice has been issued against the main accused Abdul Malik and his son Abdul Moid.
Meanwhile, considering the present situation in the area, the district magistrate ordered some relaxations in parts of the affected area. Relaxation will be provided in Gaujajali, Railway Bazaar and FCI godown campus from 9 AM to 4 PM. Some conditional relaxation has also been provided in the remaining parts of Vanbhulpura from 9 AM to 11 AM. Shops related to supply of essential items, vehicles used for supply of such items and members of the public coming out to procure such items will be allowed to avail of the relaxation. The residents of the curfew-hit area will not be allowed to leave the area. Students appearing for board, university or competitive exams will be allowed to travel to and from the examination centre at the designated times on presenting admittance card. Similarly, school personnel will also be allowed movement for exam duty.
On Thursday evening, the district magistrate also visited various parts of Vanbhulpura. She talked to the local residents about the essential facilities being provided in the area by the administration. The locals informed her that vegetables, ration, milk and medical services are being regularly provided in the area.
