The police have received useful information from all accused arrested so far for their alleged involvement in carrying out irregularities in the registrar’s office of Dehradun to commit land fraud. The police are investigating the matter on evidence and information received so far and will soon arrest more accused in the next few days, said the Dehradun superintendent of traffic (City) Sarita Dobhal. The senior superintendent of police Daleep Singh Kunwar formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) last month after this matter came to light. The team started the investigation and checked more than 30 registries related to the Ring Road area. The team studied related documents and interrogated all the people associated with the properties. During the inquiry, the names of some people and property dealers came to light. These persons were found to be involved in the irregularities in the registrar’s office, said Dobhal. She said that the police also found a trail of some illegal transactions. The police also reportedly found several forgeries in the documents made by these suspects from the registrar’s office. The SP said that the SIT arrested two accused identified as Ajay Singh Chhetri (50) and an advocate Imran Ahmad (34) on Thursday. Chhetri was the binder in the registrar’s office who used to forge documents to sell lands via property dealers for profits. Dobhal said that the SIT has received crucial information from the arrested accused and other people involved in the matter and more culprits will be arrested in this case.
