More rain forecast in five districts today

Various parts of the state received light rain on Thursday with the provisional state capital Dehradun also experiencing a spell of rain during the evening. The state meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of very light to light rainfall/thunderstorm likely to occur at a few places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts and at isolated places in Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts on Friday. Dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts of the state. The provisional state capital is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 36 degrees Celsius and 19 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Friday.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the state on Thursday were 36.6
degrees Celsius and 20.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 36.6 degrees Celsius and 19.2 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 23.4 degrees Celsius and 11.1 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 24.4 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has forecast that the southwest monsoon seasonal (June to September) rainfall over the country as a whole is most likely to be normal (96 to 104 % of Long Period Average (LPA)). IMD will issue the updated forecasts for monsoon season rainfall in the last week of May. In addition to update for the April forecast, forecasts for monsoon season (June-September) rainfall for four geographical regions, monsoon core zone and forecast for the month of June also will be issued.
