Heavy rain warning issued for six districts
A few spells of rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Friday morning brought considerable relief from the heat and humidity early during the day in Dehradun. The trend is likely to continue on Saturday with the State meteorological centre issuing a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of heavy rain likely to occur at isolated places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Chamoli and Bageshwar districts. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense/very intense spells of rain are likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at most places in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Almora and Udham Singh Nagar districts and at many places in the remaining districts of the State.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience a generally cloudy sky. Few spells of light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur with one or two spells likely to be intense/heavy in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 30 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Saturday. There was light to moderate rain in various parts of the State on Friday with 29 millimetres in Rudrapur, 15.5 millimetres in Laksar, seven millimetres in Auli, four millimetres each in Uttarkashi and Joshimath and 1.3 millimetres in Dehradun. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places were 30.9 degrees Celsius and 21.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 32.7 degrees Celsius and 26.3 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 22.7 degrees Celsius and 15.9 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.8 degrees Celsius and 15.8 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
