More rain & snowfall expected in five districts today

With the maximum temperature remaining a few notches below what it was at the start of the week in various parts of the State following rains in the plains and snowfall in the higher reaches, the trend is likely to continue on Saturday in parts of five districts. Earlier, gusty winds along with rain experienced late at night on Thursday caused some disruption in Dehradun.

The State meteorological centre has forecast that very light to light rain/thunderstorms/snowfall are likely to occur at isolated places in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts on Saturday. Apart from this, dry weather is likely to prevail in the remaining districts today. The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness mainly clear to partly cloudy skies on Saturday with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 33 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius respectively.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Friday were 32 degrees Celsius and 16.2 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 33 degrees Celsius and 19.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21.2 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 20.2 degrees Celsius and 6.3 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.

Light rain was witnessed in some places with 13 millimetres in Harshil, 10 millimetres in Auli, seven millimetres each in Jankichatti and Champawat, five millimetres in Bhimtal and 4.5 millimetres in Pithoragarh.
