More than 18 lakh visit Char Dham shrines

The number of people who have visited the Char Dham temples so far has crossed 18 lakh. According to official data, 18,50,154 pilgrims have visited the Char Dham since the Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were reopened to the public on May 10 while Badrinath was reopened on May 12. Out of the Char Dham, the maximum number of people have visited the Kedarnath temple in the Rudraprayag district.
According to information provided by the Tourism department, 19,530 people visited Kedarnath temple on Friday while a total of 7,30,228 people have visited this temple so far. The Badrinath temple in Chamoli district was visited by 15,697 people on Friday while a total of 4,53,694 people have visited this temple so far. In the Uttarkashi district, 9,242 people visited the Yamunotri temple on Friday while a total of 3,36,735 people have visited this temple so far. Similarly, 11,523 people visited the Gangotri temple on Friday. A total of 3,29,497 people have visited this temple so far since its reopening. It will be recalled that more than 56 lakh people had visited the Char Dham temples in the State during the pilgrimage season in 2023. The government expects this record to be broken this year. With more than 18 lakh people having visited these shrines within a month of the pilgrimage starting, the record is expected to be broken soon before the end of the six-month pilgrimage season. The initial days of the pilgrimage witnessed considerable traffic congestion and inconvenience to the pilgrims. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami issued various instructions and also inspected various sites on the Yatra route to improve the situation. The government has made the registration of pilgrims mandatory and has also taken other steps to make the pilgrimage more systematic.
