More than 29K cases settled in National Lok Adalat in Uttarakhand

A total of 29,708 cases were settled in the National Lok Adalat organised by the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) in various courts of Uttarakhand on Saturday. The member secretary of the SLSA, RK Khulbe informed that National Lok Adalat was organised in 13 districts of the state in the district courts, family courts, labour courts and consumer courts among others to amicably settle the cases which are pending in courts or are at the pre-litigation stage. Over 40,000 cases were referred to various courts of all districts under Lok Adalat out of which, a total of 29,708 were settled. He said that the most of the cases settled were mostly the cases at the pre-litigation stage.
Out of a total of 29,708 cases settled in the Lok Adalat, 8,429 cases were settled in district courts across the State while 21,205 cases were settled at the pre-litigation stage. According to Khulbe, 2,044 cases were settled in Dehradun, 2,139 in Udham Singh Nagar, 1,890 in Haridwar, 1,000 in Nainital, 284 in Pauri, 110 in Pithoragarh, 271 in Tehri, 70 in Chamoli, 253 in Uttarkashi, 87 in Almora, 100 in Bageshwar, 110 in Rudraprayag and 52 in Champawat. Besides this, 74 cases were also settled in consumer courts. Khulbe informed that 19 cases were also disposed of by the division bench of Justices Sharad Kumar Sharma and Ravindra Maithani for the National Lok Adalat held in Uttarakhand High Court on Saturday. The total settlement amount across the State in this Lok Adalat was over Rs 90.44 crore, added Khulbe.
