MP from Mauritius meets Assembly speaker

Former minister of foreign affairs of Mauritius, Nand Kumar Bodha met the speaker of Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha Ritu Khanduri at her office on Saturday. The two leaders discussed the constitutional and other issues related to the two countries in the meeting. Bodha who is the member of the Mauritian parliament is on a seven day visit to India. Bodha said that Hindus constitute 52 per cent of the population of Mauritius. “Their ancestors had come from India about 160 years ago in search of work and better life but they were treated badly by the English people.
The Indians progress on the basis of their hard work and education and now they are in top positions including President and Prime Minister,’’ he said. Khanduri said that it is a matter of great happiness and pride that the Indians in Mauritius have kept their traditions and culture alive in that country.
