Mrs India Planet 2023 finalist Samiksha Singh striving for transgender inclusivity & eco-conscious activism

The finalist in the Mrs India Planet 2023 competition Samiksha Singh said that she has dedicated her platform to “Equality for All: Fostering Inclusivity and Respect for Transgender Individuals” and “Transforming Tailor Shop Waste Cloth into Small Bags for Banjaras.”
Explaining her first initiative, she said that through her initiatives she strives to transcend boundaries and reach deep into the heart of one of the society’s most marginalised communities—the transgender individuals. Her efforts in this domain involve not only speaking out on various platforms but also actively engaging in initiatives that promote inclusivity, she said and added that she has been working hard to raze down stereotypes and prejudices and to create a space where transgender individuals are seen, heard, and respected for who they are.
Another facet of her social responsibility endeavours is her commitment to environmental sustainability and the uplift of the Banjara community. She said she has spearheaded a project that revolves around reusing waste cloth material sourced from local tailor shop (Mishkat Boutique) in Dehradun to create small, useful bags. This initiative not only reduces textile waste but also provides a sustainable source of livelihood for the Banjara community, she said.
