Multipurpose legal awareness camp held in Almora

With an aim to raise awareness among local residents, a comprehensive multipurpose legal awareness and literacy camp was organised in Almora under the guidance of the Uttarakhand State Legal Services Authority (USLSA) and the chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on Thursday. Secretary of the DLSA, Sachi Sharma along with many other officials, was present during the programme.
The event educated the general public and students about the establishment and functions of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), State Legal Services Authority (SALSA) and the District Legal Services Authority. Topics discussed included various NALSA schemes, the rights of women, children, transgenders and senior citizens. Speakers in the programme also highlighted citizens’ rights and responsibilities as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, as well as NALSA’s toll-free helpline number 15100, the child helpline number 1098, women’s empowerment, special legal rights of women, the adverse effects of narcotics, free legal aid and an anti-drug campaign.
Additionally, during the programme Mahalakshmi kits were distributed to women while walking sticks and wheelchairs were given to other beneficiaries. The SDRF team conducted disaster management training. Additionally, the Health department conducted free health check-ups, distributed medicines and issued disability certificates. The Haidakhan Charitable Trust from Chiliyanaula, Ranikhet conducted free eye tests.
Apart from this, various stalls were also set up. The secretary of the DLSA inspected the stalls set up by different departments to raise awareness on the assistance and benefits provided to the public.
