Multitudes participate in cancer awareness rally held in Nainital

A number of people participated in a breast cancer awareness rally organised by Asha Foundation in Nainital on Sunday. Uttarakhand High Court chief justice Vipin Sanghi flagged off the rally. Speaking on the occasion, he said that raising public awareness is very important to save more people from breast cancer. This disease can be treated properly if it is diagnosed early on time, he added.
Earlier, the members of the organising body, students from various local schools and citizens gathered at the venue in the morning. After being flagged off by the High Court chief justice, the awareness rally passed through various areas of Nainital city before returning to the DSA Ground. Asha Foundation chairwoman Asha Sharma said that cancer awareness camps have been organised in 24 villages of the State by the foundation so far to raise awareness in society.
She said that the Asha Foundation will continue to hold various programmes to raise public awareness on cancer. She also thanked the local hotel association, managers of various schools, the district administration and the police for their role in facilitating the event here on Sunday.
