Multitudes pay homage to soldier martyred in Nagaland

The mortal remains of soldier Gautam Lal, a resident of Noli village in Kirtinagar block of Tehri district, who was martyred in the recent Nagaland violence, were brought to his village on Tuesday.
As soon as the body of the deceased reached the village people from the whole area came out in large numbers to pay homage to the martyr amid the chants of Bharat Mata Ki Jai.
Several people paid homage to martyr Gautam Lal at Lakshmoli Kirtinagar Ghat. He was then accorded a final farewell at his ancestral ghat with state and military honours. Local MLA Vinod Kandari, district magistrate Eva Ashish Srivastava and senior superintendent of police Tripti Bhatt also paid floral tributes at the mortal remains of the martyr.
On Sunday morning, Ramesh Lal of Noli village received information that his son, a paratrooper in the 21st battalion of the army’s Parachute Regiment was martyred in Nagaland. Gautam was the youngest of five siblings of whom three are sisters.
