The Muni Ki Reti municipality in Rishikesh received ODF++ certification in the field survey of Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban (SBM-U) conducted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). As per the officials, this field survey was conducted between March 7 and March 10 by the team of SBM-U.
Previously, the municipality had received the status of ODF + but now with improved facilities this year, it has attained the highest status in the open defecation free system of Swachh Survekshan. This certification has made the city eligible to get 500 marks in Swachh Survekshan 2021 and increased the chances to get a better ranking this year.
It is pertinent to mention here that ODF, ODF + and ODF ++ certification are issued to urban local bodies participating in Swachh Survekshan on the basis of easy access to clean and functional public toilets for locals besides being free from open defecation.
