PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

Sports minister Rekha Arya announced that the online application process for the Mukhyamantri Udyaman Unnayan Yojana (MUUY) and the Mukhyamantri Khiladi Protsahan Yojana (MKPY) will reopen. She said that the original application deadline for both the schemes was March 31, but she has directed officials to extend the application period for a few additional days. She said that there have been reports from various districts indicating that some young athletes have been unable to submit their applications for various reasons.

The minister emphasised that the government’s objective is to support as many athletes as possible through these initiatives, which is why the application window will be reopened for these individuals. Arya also stated that the selection process for qualifying candidates in both the schemes should be finalised by April 30, ensuring that the incentive funds can be disbursed to them via Direct Benefit Transfer starting May 1.

Arya further informed that the impasse regarding the land transfer and related issues for the State’s first sports university has been resolved and the necessary amendments have been forwarded to the central government. The Sports minister said that she has set a deadline for the officials to finalise all preparations by the upcoming National Sports Day on August 29, when the foundation stone for the university is expected to be laid.
