Nabin shifts State general secretary to Rajasthan

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun

The Bharatiya Janata Party has relieved its Uttarakhand general secretary (Organisation) Ajaey Kumar from his position here and made him the general secretary (Organisation) of the party in Rajasthan. While the Congress and others are claiming that Kumar was transferred out of Uttarakhand because his name had cropped up in the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the BJP has denied this and stressed that this is part of the usual organisational procedure.

An official communication issued by the BJP national general secretary Arun Singh on Monday stated that the party’s national president Nitin Nabin had appointed Kumar as the party’s Rajasthan general secretary (Organisation) with immediate effect. Some political analysts pointed out that coming within a few days of Nabin’s Dehradun visit, Kumar’s transfer shows that the party wants to avoid any controversial leader affecting the coming Assembly elections in Uttarakhand.

The Congress was also quick to react with its chief spokesperson Garima Dasauni opining that he had been relieved of his post in Uttarakhand due to the allegations levelled in the Ankita Bhandari case. However, the BJP has rejected such speculation.

The party’s State media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan told The Pioneer that the Congress is indulging in baseless politics, adding that Kumar was appointed in Rajasthan as part of the BJP’s organisational procedure. He has been given a bigger responsibility as there are 200 Vidhan Sabha seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan. Chauhan said, “During Ajaey Kumar’s term in Uttarakhand, his leadership made the BJP’s poll strategy invincible and the party achieved considerable success in its organisational expansion. Our national president has given him an important responsibility in Rajasthan as part of the usual organisational procedure to make the organisation stronger and boost organisational activities,” he said.

Chauhan further said that Kumar’s strategy, commendable management and farsighted guidance helped the party secure resounding victories in the 2022 Vidhan Sabha polls, 2024 Lok Sabha polls and various other elections in Uttarakhand.
