Nagar Parikrama to be held today as part of Jhanda Mela

The Jhanda Mela committee and devotees will organise a Nagar Parikrama programme on Friday in Dehradun. The chief manager of the Mela committee Madhusudan Semwal said that this event occurs every year on the third day after the holy flagpole (Jhanda Ji) is raised.
This year, the Parikrama will take place on March 21 under the guidance of Mahant Devendra Das. The Parikrama will begin at 7:30 AM from the Darbar Sahib premises. Semwal stated that more than 25,000 devotees are expected to participate in the Nagar Parikrama.
Regarding the route, he said that it will pass through Saharanpur Chowk , Kanwali Road and Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School, Bindal where the Prasad will be disturbed to the Sangat. The Parikrama will continue to Tilak Road, Tagore Villa, Clock Tower and then to Paltan Bazaar, Lakkhibagh police station, Ritha Mandi and finally Bombay Bagh, where Prasad will be distributed to the Sangat (devotees).
The event will conclude at the Darbar Sahib with bhajans, kirtan and the distribution of Prasad. Semwal said that the Parikrama is expected to conclude at the Darbar Sahib by 12 PM.
It will be recalled that this year, the historic Jhanda Mela began with the raising of a new sacred flag pole at the Darbar Sahib on March 19. The flag was hoisted that evening amid the chanting of bhajans by the Sangat. A large number of devotees from various regions including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and other regions, witnessed the event along with local devotees.
