As part of the drive, garbage accumulated in the city was also removed. In course of this drive, 35 shops set permanently on encroached land were dismantled. Besides, notices were sent to over 12 unauthorised traders. The bicycles found parked in Mall Road in defiance of the parking rules were seized. Further, challans were served to the owners of several two-wheelers and four-wheelers under some provisions of the motor vehicles act. Challans were served to two hotel owners who were found using domestic gas cylinders for commercial purposes. These cylinders were seized, too. A senior district administration officer informed that the drive was launched along the stretch from Mall Road to Tallital and it would continue in the coming days.
