The 181st foundation day of Nainital was celebrated with enthusiasm here on Friday. Cultural troupes from various States also performed in a function held in the city to mark the occasion. Greeting the people on the occasion as the chief guest, the Nainital MLA Sarita Arya said that Nainital is a unique heritage of nature which is also rich in culture. She stressed on the need for collective efforts to preserve the existence of the lake city. The event organisers were also appreciated for celebrating the occasion every year since 2006. Arya said that the public, especially the youth, need to come forward to save Nainital city and the environment. The guests and others also cut a cake to celebrate the occasion. Prominent citizens of the city were also among those present during the programme.
