The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt has challenged the Congress to name the VIP or provide any proof it has regarding the Vanantara Resort- Ankita Bhandari murder case, or stop political propaganda. Responding to media persons regarding the Swabhiman Nyay Yatra of the Congress, the BJP State president said that on the directions of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami strict action had been taken in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and that the case is pending in the court. The legal process is being taken forward by the government in consultation with the victim’s family and the people of the State are also satisfied with the action taken by the government so far. However, the Congress is adopting an irresponsible attitude on this sensitive issue and consistently playing politics on it.
The Congress is demanding a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation while the Uttarakhand High Court has also agreed to the probe by the Special Investigation Team. He averred that Congress leaders have been spreading confusion since the beginning citing a VIP. If the Congress leaders have any name or concrete information, they should either make it public or convey it to the investigating agencies. Making statements for political benefit and remaining in focus cannot be considered justified in this case, he added. On the question of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi participating in the Swabhiman Yatra, he said that Congress leaders have been talking about his visit for six months now but this has not happened so far. This shows the importance of regional Congress leaders for him, said Bhatt.
On the allegations of the opposition in the Chamoli incident, he said that the priority of the government was to save the people and provide swift relief which was done efficiently. Strict legal action is being taken against those guilty in the incident with three persons having been arrested so far. Stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also taken cognisance of the case, he stressed that none of the guilty will be spared.
