Parents still await fee monitoring act to check consistent fee hike in private schools
Several parents have opined that the State government should take action at the ground level like the formation and implementation of a fee monitoring act to ensure that private schools do not hike school fees unnecessarily every year. The State government under Trivendra Singh Rawat as the chief minister was planning to form a fee monitoring act to monitor the increase in the fees of students in private schools but it was not introduced. The act is yet to be introduced and implemented in the State, said the president of the National Association of Parents and Student Rights (NAPSR) Arif Khan.
Khan said, “I have repeatedly raised the issue of the need for fee monitoring act in the Education department. There is no one to monitor the fee structure of the private schools, which enables them to increase the fees indiscriminately. The act which had been assured earlier should be implemented. Apart from this, I would request the Education department to make a separate fee regulation committee in the State. The fee regulation committee will ensure that no private school charges very high fees without justification.”
