Narcotics worth Rs 23.25 crore seized by STF in 2024

The Anti-Narcotics Unit of the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) has reported seizing narcotics worth about Rs 23.25 crore in 2024. The senior superintendent of police of STF Navneet Singh stated this during a Press conference here on Friday. He informed that the STF arrested a drug trafficker in the Bazpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district with charas worth Rs six lakh late on Thursday. It was reportedly meant to be supplied to the Prayagraj.
The SSP said, “Under the supervision of STF CO RB Chamola and led by inspector-in-charge Pawan Swaroop, the STF conducted a joint operation with the local police near Doraha-Bazpur Road.on late on Thursday, the team apprehended Jainath (25), a resident of Sarkadi village, Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The team recovered 1.26 kilogrammes of charas from his possession.”
Singh said that the accused revealed during interrogation that he had sourced the charas from Mohali village in Bazpur, intending to sell it in Prayagraj, where narcotics fetch a significantly higher price. He admitted to frequently smuggling charas from Bazpur to Uttar Pradesh for distribution. The STF also gathered leads on other drug traffickers during the investigation, and further action against them is underway, he said.
