Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the Narendra Modi government is engaged in the politics of development and not the politics of vote bank which is pursued by the opposition parties. The CM participated in Gurumat Sant Samagam programme at Kashipur in Udham Singh Nagar district on Tuesday. The programme was organised to mark the 325th Khalsa Sajna Diwas.
The CM said that the sacrifice, valour and contemplation of Sikh Gurus towards religion and country is an example for others. He said that Guru Govind Singh set up the Khalsa sect in the year 1699 to safeguard the religion and culture from the foreign invaders. The CM said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a historic decision of holding December 26 as Veer Bal Diwas every year to remember the sacrifice of the Sahibjadas of Guru Govind Singh. PM Modi has also taken a decision to remove GST from the Langars of Sikh community and set up Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for the pilgrims at a cost of Rs 120 crore.
Taking a dig at former governments, the CM said that they lacked the will to take strong decisions. He said that these governments mainly focused on complicating the issues and had not taken any heed of the demands of the people. Dhami said that the government under PM Modi is working without any discrimination. The government has included the foundation stone laying of Rs 850 crore Govind Ghat-Hemkund Sahib ropeway project as nine gems of development. Once completed, the ropeway project will ensure an increase in the number of pilgrims visiting Hemkund Sahib. With the help of the ropeway, the pilgrims will be able to complete the 19 kilometre uphill journey in only 45 minutes.
The CM also listed the achievements of his government. He said that the government tabled the bill on Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in assembly, brought law to prevent religious conversions and acted against land Jihad.
Union minister of State and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar candidate Ajay Bhatt and others were also present on the occasion.
